The Islamic Aviator; Flying through your nerves!

In Tehran, it is hard to find new Hollywood pictures on screen but this Cinema Farhang in northern Tehran does it once in a while but only for one session per day at 10 P.M! Reserved the tickets two days before (2US$ each), we went to watch “The Aviator” last night, happy with the anticipation of watching it in a modern theater equipped with DD sound system. But when a Hollywood pictures can be shown under the Islamic system, that means they have already cut anything so called non-moral from them so the joy gets corrupted when you actually need to guess some critical scenes of the movie! And make some parts of the story in your mind especially those related to the main actor’s personal affairs and his carrier in movie business! The original versions are available in the black-market so there is hope to see what actually happened in the movie. Well it is not that bad for imagination!

The return of the Iranian blogging king…

Is it a joke or what? Hossein Derakhshan, The Iranian blogging pioneer is saying that he wants to get back to Iran this time as a Canadian. It is now around two years since I started checking on his weblogs (at least ten times a day). His creative actions and supportive words made a revolution in Iranian blogging and made him damn famous. I owe most of almost a hundred readers per day of mine to one of his blog that listed most of Iranian English blogs. Anyway, his decision looks somehow a bit more than a bit risky to me. He should bear in mind that it is still not known who killed the Iranian-Canadian journalist Zahra Kazemi when she was under custody of the chief prosecutor. For someone like him who is badly marked as one of the most problem children, going back to the stepmother is like diving towards a shark with your nose bleeding! He might not be able to obtain reporting permit from the Iranian government I guess. I want to read his blog not his grave stone (well, I reconsider this if he can find a way to update the stone regularly, what a difference does it make? to me he is just his words… kidding J I think he might be kidding himself!

Iran, where words are imprisoned and thoughts are tortured

Mr. Behi is glad he is outside of Iran at the moment so he can access blogger for updating his blog as apparently the new raid in filtering sites has started by Iranian government. ISPs are forced to filter sites like blogger and orkut after the apparent outrageous order by the judiciary system. Guardian blog published a very comprehensive summary of the issue and is also pointing out the story of some famous bloggers who were badly mistreated in prison to confess against themselves for just casting their ideas in their blogs! The government is going through the same path that the late king went "Prisoning the thoughts" forgetting that when these words come out the cage, they loom up in shape of a revolution...
