Movie Time

Thursdays is a good day because I can stay home if there is no left over work and shut down any gateway of the outside news. During the week, I hear enough about the messes that are being made in the country that I just do not want any news site or newspaper or news at all in the weekend. Life in Tehran is so fast and the atmosphere of the city is not of course of my taste although there are places that I would love to hang out but generally I am kind of caught in a few places and that is probably because I do not have a car (I hope I solve this soon) and day simply finishes before I can feel it.

Anyway, yesterday Mrs.Behi and me were both at home and we indulged ourselves with movies. I recently borrowed the complete series of Friends that my colleague brought from China and also we have recently bought so many movies from a place that we recently discovered in Tehran. Boy! they have a little shop that is not very conspicuous from outside and they have tones of movies, simply whatever you wish for. I am impressed how come they can work without getting caught by the police. (Police does not allow the distribution of uncensored movies). 

These DVDs are not original of course and each time I play them, I see that punishment notice of FBI and I become happy that I am not in the United States! Well, do not blame me, I have no other choice, there is no original movie store over here and the options are these copies or nothing. Please open a branch of Virgin here and we will buy from that ;-)

A series of unfortunate events

This movie although it does not look like a very big show, appeared interesting to me as I watched it on my flight back from Kuala-Lumpur in a very equipped Boeing 777 of Emirates airlines. Once again, talents of Jim Carrey rescued another movie.

The way the three talented children get caught in a series of unfortunate events generated by an evil guardian who pretends to be their sole supporter, and the struggles they make to get out of all the miserable situations laid on their path by him generated a funny coincidence in my thoughts in resemblance with things going on for Iranian people nowadays

can you belive that these people make films in 48 hours? and some of them are smart indeed. For your voice to be heard you do not always need a Hollywood studion. That is a nice point of this blogging too compared to formal medias.

The Islamic Aviator; Flying through your nerves!

In Tehran, it is hard to find new Hollywood pictures on screen but this Cinema Farhang in northern Tehran does it once in a while but only for one session per day at 10 P.M! Reserved the tickets two days before (2US$ each), we went to watch “The Aviator” last night, happy with the anticipation of watching it in a modern theater equipped with DD sound system. But when a Hollywood pictures can be shown under the Islamic system, that means they have already cut anything so called non-moral from them so the joy gets corrupted when you actually need to guess some critical scenes of the movie! And make some parts of the story in your mind especially those related to the main actor’s personal affairs and his carrier in movie business! The original versions are available in the black-market so there is hope to see what actually happened in the movie. Well it is not that bad for imagination!
