And happily ever...so far
Thank you! finally the Britons are released and Ahmadinejad could assume he was a compassionate winner out there and felt good. I am telling you, you want to win with this guy, make him feel good about himself and you are set :) He will write in his diary today: I gave a gift to Britain!
I hope that the world would also please stop evil-izing Iran. So we have a naughty government...you do not have to tell us over and over, we already know it :) and this playground is so full of such problem children. We -Iranians- do not have to be punched just because we go to the same school as this naughty boy goes. And you told on us to the security council? ooh man...all the school knows that they go to the same bar as your dad! man...Iran and UK were seriously telling each other "me! you! outside" but seems that someone gave both of them a chocolate bar this time:)
Jokes apart, this is a good news to hear. I am sure some people in Iran and UK are looking for good pillows for the first nice night after a while.
Going back home is great and thank you Libya! Mrs.Behi now has a visa to join me in Tripoli. The difficult time apart is over. I am still living in an empty apartment without her and am just picturing all the fun we will have together. This is a fantastic apartment..It is higher than the main road and has a good view of tripoli sea port , is looking west to enjoy romantic Mediterranean sunsets and is overlooking a very nice garden that you hear birds singing from its trees every morning. I got my company car today and all I need is to buy a GPS, mount it on and map Tripoli on Google Earth...sounds like an idea in a place were maps are scares Till future adventures...

Mr Behi I love your sense of humor, you made me laugh and that is not easy to do. I appreciate it.
I wonder if someday we will all have to look at our idocracies at one collective time. Even though I know this will never happen I still have hope that one day the ancient culture that came so close to wiping the idea of Democracy of the face of the planet can help to make the idea of Democracy the strongest it ever has been on the planet.
In order for Persia to understand this they must continue to move peacefully towards this agenda. Let us not forget however that Democracy is Not a cingular idea of voting for electable individuals. We have to maintain the politicians and stop them from having to much control.
In America we have checks and balances, but no one ever said that the people have a check or balance over corruption.
Remember, that you can help to be a balance to your people, who are not given any checks.

You always attack the Islamic Republic which just indicates that you want also to be a leader or a president. You are very fortunate to have an Islamic Republic and that is the best form of goverment to have as Muslim. If u do not want Islamic Republic, then you are a half-cooked muslim with little knowledge of Islam.

Mr. Behi,
You and the Mrs. sound like wonderful people and I truly enjoy reading your blogs. I dont know anything about the people of iran but it sounds like you could be one of my neighbors here in the states. Just wanted to say that.

Hassan Pierre, you're just plain scary.
Mr. Behi lifts up my hope that all sorts of people all over the world can get along just fine regardless of their religion.
But you come along and dash my hopes interjecting a personal belief that religion and government are one in the same.
Sorry, I just can't logically process that concept.

Hi Mr Behi!
I had never heard of you before today, but as I was reading the Times-on-Line in a story regarding the hostage crisis I saw your blog mentioned.
Now you've gone and dispelled any notion I had that all Iranians are just like Ahmadinejad and are bent on death and destruction (just joking, honestly).
Your blogs are a breath of fresh air and you seem a really nice guy. I will be a regular here and I've no doubt you will be gaing many more fans from the UK.
Best wishes to you and the Mrs!
Keep up the great blog,
Paul, United Kingdom.

It is a good result because everyone came out happy.
The Iranians even got medals. I wonder if the British sailors will get medals?
Posted by: Don Cox | April 05, 2007 at 09:03 PM
Not medals. Maybe four feathers?
Seriously, the Commander of HMS Cornwall should be charged dereliction of duty for allowing the hostages to be taken in the first place.
They should have had backup at all times and I feel they should have fought back.
Easy for me to say I know, I wasn't there.
What has happened to our country? Tony Blair, that's what's happened.
He and his government of no-hopers have dragged us down to a third-world non entity.

Paul....take note that the British sailors should not be in the persian gulf in the first place. The right to patrol in the area is the job of the Iranians or Iraqis not British!!!! Britain is just very arrogant like USA who pretends to own the whole world!!!!

Phred, my idea is just plain scary to those people who never knew the value of true religion and how it encompases politics....The true religion has included politics as one of its condern like the theocratic government of King David and Solomon of old! Democracy is just a ridiculous in positing that religion should be separated from the state!!! You want atheist be your politicians????? How about those politicians who are also bigots in their own belief or religion like Bush???? Democracy is just hypocrasy!

Wonderful blog - thank you Mr Behi. I am delighted that our young service personnel have been returned having been unlawfully detained. To correct a remark above - the personnel were present at the behest of the Iraqi government and operating under a UN resolution. Also, this country is not at war with Iran and therefore our sailors and marines are not trained to behave like prisoners of war in responding to their captors. All human beings wish to survive and the captured naval personnel were very frightened by the actions of their guards. I wonder how those who criticise their actions would behave in the same circumstances? Sadly, I do not think Iran has come out of this situation at all well. They may have satisfied their own audience but all they have done is portray their country as one who does not adhere to established norms and international laws. Neither has the UK Naval planners come out well - I do not see any other country leaving their personnel so exposed.
I believe the UK government acted correctly in trying to resolve the matter diplomatically. This, with the support of the UN and EU contributed to the early release. The UK was also supported by other Arab states and this force of world opinion assured the matter was resolved. It was not because of the generosity of the Iranian president.
As out PM stated - we do have problems with a part of the Iranian regime - we do not with the Iranian people.

Mr. Behi,
Thank you for your insights regarding Iran. As an American with many Iranian friends and a limited knowledge of the rich history of Iran, I understand that no one voice can represent all Iranians anymore that it can any other nationality. My experience has shown me a great people, warm and caring with an appreciation of knowledge and wisdom.
There are also interesting parallels in other cultures with the American sterotype "Redneck" with no toleration of ideas that do not perfectly fit with their own. It is the lack of tolerance that invites conflict.
A wise man once said "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then there will be peace".
May peace be with you all ....

"The right to patrol in the area is the job of the Iranians or Iraqis not British!!!!"
As the Prime Minister of Iraq said, the British have been checking ships for smuggled weapons at the request of the Iraq government. The Iraqi navy is still tiny and not equipped for this task.
Sooner or later the Iraqis will build up their navy and can undertake this job themselves. No doubt there will then be similar incidents between Iranian and Iraqi forces. This is a tense border.
