So, using nucs is bad just for others!
I am starting to believe that we are living in a haphazard time of human history! Can still not be live what I hear about the talks of using nuclear weapons against Iran's nuclear sites! Hey, do you hear me? we are people down here! can you understand that?
I just know that when US says something and EU calls it stupid and then UK says it is not probable, it will happen!
That is good way of leading the public, first you say "I will use nuclear weapons or it is a wild specualation" then everyone starts criticising the idea, and after a while you say "OK, OK I will only use the regular bombs" and everyone will be smiling ear to ear!
There is a nice proverb in Persian that says "First dig a well and then steal the Minaret". [You know what Minaret is right? that is one of the commonly two towers build on the side of domes of mosques and shrines]. That means, before doing something, think of the outcomes and give yourself an out. Someone should read that to Tehran and Washington leaders.
P.S: Nice article in "The war in context"

:) I like the way you use Persian jokes and proverbs in your writings. Thanks for writing about this war thing and thanks for giving me a link!

Dear mr b
Perhaps seymour has done something that forewarns people in the US and the UN. perhaps people will more seriously look at alternatives.
maybe your government will more seriously look at alternatives as well.
i'm afraid though that seymour is probably right about what plans are being developed.

I have been reading Syrmour's books for many years and I have lost my respect for him. He is seldom correct...go read his prior predictions and it's all hype. He is very good at creating BUZZ for his upcoming books and this is anothe example.

I don't know what to say, today I read about ahmadinejad's decleration that Iran enrich the Uranium which means Iran formally has joined countries with nuclear technology. I don't know it means that US will leave iran to itself like North Korea or start a war!!!
I hope peaple know about the expense of having nuclear energy...

Any thing said by that nutjob Hersh is not believeable!

From an environmental and human perspective I'm no fan of nuclear energy (though I realise we might end up with no choice but to use it) and especially not of nuclear weapons, but as long as some countries have nuclear energy and nukes, who is the US or the UN or anyone else to decide who can have them and who can't? Anti-proliferation really just means "we'd prefer it if only our 'friends' have this kind of power".

Oil is traded worldwide using US dollars. The US prints billions of these dollars which are exchanged world wide and never return to the US. Iran originally threatened to start trading oil in Euro’s. If that started then the countries holding millions of dollars would start to exchange their dollars into Euro’s. The US economy would melt down as the billions of unsupported paper dollars were exchanged and returned to the US. That is the reason for the problems with Iran. Forget the atomic stuff that is just noise and scare tactics. If the middle East tries to switch to trade oil in Euro’s then the problems with the US will start.

I think you're exactly right. I think this is just like haggling with a store owner over the price of his goods.
You offer him considerably lower than you're actually willing to pay so he'll be more likely to give you the price you were looking for all along.
All this talk is just part of the game. The way I see it, the pieces may be rearranged, but the table is basically set.
From here on it's just a massive PR campaign to get people behind a possible war.
Don't worry too much, though. I am pretty confident if Iran is attacked, Russia and China will come to her aid, either in a declared way or by simply lending troops and armaments for the cause.
I might just lack faith in humanity. I might be overly cynical, but this could be WWIII if we're not careful.

The guy above my last comment had it right. This is all about Iran's proposed oil bourse, just our war with Iraq was over Saddam's insistence on accepting only Euros for his oil.
If anyone's interested in what's REALLY going on with the invasion of Iraq and the imminent attack on Iran, you can go here and read this speech by Texas Republican Representative Ron Paul: http://www.house.gov/paul/congrec/congrec2006/cr021506.htm
It pretty much explains everything.

No one is against Iran using nuclear energy. However, nearly everyone is concerned about Iran developing nuclear weaponry. After all, Iran is the leading state sponsor of terrorism, and Iran's leaders clearly and consistently pray for "Death to America" and "Death to Israel". You DON'T spend millions of dollars burying a 'peaceful' nuclear energy program, but you DO bury a program you're trying to hide from the world.
