Guardians Council, Gangrene of democracy
Link: BBC NEWS | Middle East | Iran 'bars pro-reform candidates'.
When a country cannot trust a person who has been among its top managers for many years, whom it can trust? The Guardian’s council disqualifies Mostafa Moeein to prove once again that the geometry of the circle of trust in the Islamic Republic of Iran is not represented by the borderline of the country but by the shape of governor’s skulls!

Oh! that's sad :-(. From whatever feelings i could gather from various English Iranian blogs, it seemed that people were really upbeat about Dr. Moeen. Really sorry to hear that he has been disqualified :-(.

Mr.Behi, sorry to clutter your blog with too much comments, but I was just wondering whether the GC took such steps to ensure that Rafsanjani wins. What's your take into that? I was reading (can't remember whether in Iranian blogs or US-newspapers/magazines) that Rafsanjani is the person who can diffuse the present agressive relations between Iran and the EU and Iran and the USA. Perhaps that's why GC is taking such steps to ensure that Mr.Rafsanjani wins and helps in developing a much softer relation among Iran, EU and USA. It would be nice if you could please elaborate on all these issues in your blog-post. Thanks, kl.

That is actually the propaganda by Rafsanjani. He was president for many years, how come he did not do anything to ease the tension at that time? His position in the body of Islamic republic grants him so much power already and if he wants to do soemthing, there is no need for him to wait till he is president.

I'm sure you will have heard about this by the time you read this, but khamenei has asked the GC to allow Moein to run. I imagine this is an attempt to undermine rafsanjani's chances, but I have to read more on the issue.
